July 31, 2011 - IOWA REGION WINS THE 2011 MAMA SAM IOWA CHALLENGE! The final of three events comprising the Iowa Challenge was hosted by the Great River Region in Mt Joy. It was a fun course that was highlighted by a high speed sweeper on the second lap that took several drivers (and associated corner workers) by surprise. Using PAX the top 19 of 55 drivers scored points for their clubs. By the new rules the Iowa club came away from the event with 235 points, with Great River and Des Moines Valley regions scoring 140 and 139 points, respectively. Overall, it seems that the new format has advantages over the old formats in that participation by drivers of all skill levels was encouraged. Although DMVR had the advantage before the last event the Iowa region fielded a large number of drivers and pulled off the victory.
